Editorial Photoshoot:
To continue my blog from my Editorial shoot idea I have chosen a design that I believe is the most suitable for my theme and put it into practice. Referring back to my previous blog I chose the design below for this reason 'In my final design I have created a mix of light and dark blues that cover all areas of skin that are exposed using the child friendly paints. I wanted to create a mis-match of textures on the face while using white in certain areas (like the t-zone) to highlight the face. Then while running these colours through the hair I would drip colours down the face to relate to other textures of paint used. Using black paint and a bristled brush I would run this along some edges of the face like shown in the design to give the look more demention and definition. To finally finish the look I may place white eyelashes to really make the eyes pop against all the colours on the body.' Kit List:
- Blue, white and black children paint- comb
- Eyelashes
- Bristled brush
When completing this look I thought paint would be the most appropriate texture and substance for my word 'Fill' as it relates in that it can be poured and can fill objects, while being a great substance to create looks and colour. Inspired by this photograph I wanted to create a similar colour theme with gradients of blues and white as the gradient of colours is very appealing to the eye. To start this look on my model I started with a clean face and then using my white paint and bristled brush I made brush strokes up and down the face, going down just below the collar bone in random parts to create this look. As the white acted as a base I then created three shades of blue; dark blue medium and light. Using these three colour I used the same brush and technique as with the white and continued on the face. When I was happy with the amount of colour on the face I then brought these colours into the hair, slicking it back to later have worn down and long as I believe the hair makes the look more interesting showing off the gradient of paint colours into the natural hair. Using the black paint and the bristled brush I wanted to outline certain features of the face as I felt it would give the face more demention. I created these streaks of black around the jaw line, above the eyebrow, nose etc. To finally finish off the look I wanted to create drama in the eyes so I used some dramatic eyelashes and then painted bits of white within them which I believe created this drama and contrast which made this look very interesting. As seen below these are some examples of my un-edited photographs that I produced in my shoot. Originally I wanted to have a white background with these photos but I decided black worked best as with the colours on the model being so light the contrast of dark and light really made the models face pop with colour. For the poses as the contrast of colours are show dramatic I wanted the poses to highlight this even further, therefore like shown below the images are either up-close or bold and dramatic. The lighting that was used added to this I created two soft boxes on either side off the model to softly lighten her face and then a ring light above and towards the models face to create the bright, white lighting which highlights the colours and creates a striking brightness in the models eyes. To add to this look I had an assistance pour different colours of blue and white paint down the sides and into the hands of the model as I captured its moment to capture the essence of my word and texture. I am really happy with the outcome and as to improve on my look I need to make sure all my picture are in focus and I may have used a mixture of different colours to create a different mood to the images.
