Brand Final Edits:
My Final Photos...
In this blog I will be writing about my final outcome of my 'Brand' image and how I have produced it into its final advert. In my previous blog I explained how I produced my images due to the prepared practice of the; photoshoot set up, make-up, assistance and designs. Overall, the main aim for my final advert is to produced an image for my make-up brand 'M.A.C' which represents the idea of being unique and bold through its products while still taking inspiration from my inspirational word 'fill'.
Editing:
The image of the right hand side is the original RAW image that I produced at the photoshoot. On the left hand side is my final edited image of my model. I found that with this image I wanted to make the colours more intense as they appeared a bit more dull in the original photo. First of all when starting to edit I wanted to erase any small facial hairs and small blemishes which I completed with the spot toll. I did not want to over edit any elements of the face as I want my model to appear 'real' and as original as possible but with slight improvements. To enhance the colours I changed the contrast, adjusting the light and dark colours which enhanced the dark shadow around the edge of the photograph. I then adjusted the colour balance on the image which brought out the colour of the oranges and reds within the make-up which really made the colours pop.
Then shown in the final image in this blog is my final outcome brand image and advert. I added in the white 'M.A.C' logo on the bottom right hand corner. I added in the product of the M.A.C lipstick in the bottom right hand corner as well. I changed the colour of the lipstick to match the lips by colour swatching the colour of the lips to match and to finish off I gave a slightly white glow around the edge of the product to make the product the main theme as this is what the advert would be selling.

Brand Final Photoshoot:
Final shoot:
In this blog I will be writing about my final shoot and how I felt it went. In this shoot my aim was to complete a final outcome image that would represent my word 'fill' while representing my given brand 'M.A.C'. During my previous research I new I wanted to create an image that filled up the whole page and represented a bold and unique feel. I believe the make-up and the composition would best represent my inspirational word 'fill' while my brand M.A.C was represented through the unique make-up style and bold colours. The brand itself represents the meaning of being bold and different with their brand of make-up and that it has no boundaries in its creativity.
Photoshoot layout:
For my photoshoot and shown on the left hand side is the layout of how I set up my shoot to produce the images shown below. I create a black back drop for my photoshoot as to create a dark back drop and mood to my images. I put two soft boxes either side off my model but on a low light as to create low dark lighting either side of my models face. Then I positioned an over head ring light on a low level light over the top of my model and with all three of these lights it created a low lighting shoot. This lighting meant that my models main features where lit on a low lighting and created more shadow which is what I wanted to create. Shown in the mood board below I wanted to create images similar to this and by having this lighting set-up I hoped to achieve this. I wanted to create dark filled and close-up images as this incorporate the meaning of my word 'fill'.
Outcomes:
Shown below are my favourite outcomes of images that I captured during my shoot. I did find it difficult to create a dark image without losing the features of the face but I believe I have captured detailed and in focus close-up images that represent my inspirational word and brand very well. To solve my problem of not creating the image as dark as I would have liked I would darken the image during the editing process. When editing I would just take out some blemishes and tiny facial hair and I really want to enhance the colours of the make-up on the face.
Overall, I feel that my shoot went very well as I had a lot of preparation done prier to the shoot. I had produced a plan of the time, place, model and lighting set-up therefore I knew exactly what I wanted to set-up and produced when I arrived on the day. Having preparation meant that I saved a lot of time and this is a key style in the fashion industry as time is money. Prier to the shoot also I practiced the make-up to make sure I new exactly how to do it on the day and what the best way of doing it was. With this look especially I had to create sharp lines therefore I found the best way to create this is by using celeotape on my model to mark out the make-up, which I did have to practice. I am very pleased with my outcome and I now just need to edit and produce my images into adverts for my chosen brand M.A.C.

Brand Photoshoot Plan:
Brand Plan:
For this part of my blog I wanted to write about my plan for my branded photoshoot. I will be explaining what will be involved in the shoot like; lighting type, model, make-up, assistance and time/date of the shoot. The purpose of this shoot like explained in my editorial plan is that 'preparation is key' and so by planning out my time and organization I can kept to time and the plan. The design for the 'Brand' photoshoot is based on my word 'fill' just like the Editorial shoot but it will portray a different meaning of it. Shown throughout my research the word fill, fills up a lot of areas and when researching reference images I found that block imagery was an important aspect of this. I wanted to include bold colours as this also represents my brand M.A.C with using the idea of block colours. Quoted from my previous blog this is why I have chosen this design 'In this design I have gone back to the theme of block colour and fill. I have create a band of colours across the eyes but with squares of orange around both eyes and above along the eyebrows. I have used the same colours on the lips but used the orange as an highlight and to finish off the look a white eyeliner'. To continue this I will be writing about the brand make-up and what will be included.
Time/Date:
Saturday 19th of March from 9am - 12pm in the photography studios on level 0.
Photoshoot Layout:
In my layout for my photoshoot I want to create the whole image as completely full with colour in the whole image. Therefore I want the same layout as my editorial plan but with slight differences to create a blacked out background. I will include two soft box lights either side of my model and the one slightly above my model to create a softer light. However using an assistance I will have someone block there hand over the front main light to create a shadow over my model therefore creating a black outline to highlight the bold make-up on my model. This technique will highlight the bold colours, structured block work and symbolism with the black background my inspirational word fill.

Lighting Type:
As mentioned already I want to create a black outlined look to my model to add to my word fill as the image will be full of colour. The lighting will be the same as shown in the diagram above but I will add in a small black out over the main light along with a black background filter to create this. An example of what I want to achieve is shown below.
Model/Description:
My model have a light completion and tiny features for this look which really fits well for my photoshoot. My model also has very wide set eyes which really stand out well in photos and by adding in dramatic eyelashes to this look it not only contrasts with the background but makes the image stand out more making her perfect for this shoot.
Assistance:
I will need assistance with my photoshoot as when I am shooting I will need help in creating the dark shadow like shown in my 'lighting type section'. I will be trying loads of different angles and I need help when trying and experimenting with this.
Make-up/Equipment:
Make-up Kit:
- Supercolour (red and orange)
- Flat foundation brush
- Masking tape
- Eyelash glue
- foundation
- powder
- eyebrow kit and angled brush
- Dramatic eyelashes
- White eyeliner

Editorial Edits:
Final Edits...
In this blog I will be writing about my final outcome images of my Editorial shoot and how I feel it went. During the shoot I followed my plan to try and make sure the whole shoot came together in the right amount of time. To sum up what I wanted to achieve is to create three final images in total in the poses of; front, side and angled. The whole shoot is meant to represent my inspirational word 'fill' as through all my research and playing I hope I have achieved this. As mentioned previously I used paint as a main media for this shoot as I believe it best represents my word. The word 'fill' means to 'fill' something up or un 'fill' things therefore I believe paint represents the action of filling in the most interesting format and media. I will now be showing my three photos that I have edited and explain the pro's and con's of each one.
Front View
In this image I have presented a front view image representing my word 'fill'. I have picked this image out of my shoot as I love the way it is very central to the whole picture. The central positing of this image and the model makes the overall picture very bold and striking. The colouring adds to this striking theme as the paint runs down my models hand. I positioned the hand central to the face as to continue the central theme making it more bold by adding to this. Considering the colour theme the blue is a huge representation of the word 'fill' as most of it drips down the models hand but to me the white makes this pictures as its stand out and contrast so well against the black background. To further highlight the meaning of the word I have covered the majority of my models body with the paint to FILL the canvas.
Side View
In this image it represents the side view of my inspirational word 'fill'. Like the first image it gives a very striking feel to the image due to the positing of the model. The camera have taken the picture from a low angle making the audience look up at the image, following up the whole body of the model. The image gives a mood of innocence as the model looks into the distance with her long white fluttering eyelashes. The paint on the models hand also follows the position of the models acting as a direction for the eye to follow when looking at it. I have only made small changes from the original image. I have brought up the contrast and lowered the brightness slightly but the main change in the image is the 'sharpness' in the picture. I have added a high sharpness to the image which makes the colours stand out and shown as more in depth especially in the eyelashes.
Angled View
In this image it represents the angled view of my inspirational word 'fill'. I really love this image out of all my angled images as I believe give a real 'sparkle' and positive mood to the image. The contrast of the colours are really captured in this images like many of the other. The white paint and dark background really contrast against each other and other interesting elements of this image are the drips again running down the hand of the model. I reason I love this image I believe is the small smile and tilted head that my model is presenting. The white teeth firstly contrast with the black background like the white paint but secondary the position of my model gives a real 'cheeky' feel to the image which I believe give an overall positive mood and makes it very eye catching. Like the first and second image shown above I have used the same editing technique; lowered the brightness levels, highered the contrast and made the overall image sharper.
Reflection:
However, I am very please on how my images turned out I believe this is due to my detailed background research and planning of the photoshoot. Without this background research I would not have non what the main meaning and representation of my inspirational word I would have got across. The research of the continuing mood board helped me develop this idea and I am pleased with it final outcome. During the time of the photoshoot I felt that the shoot went to plan as I had put together an overall plan for the shoot making it much easier and quicker for me to know what to do and how to do it. Of course some elements were difficult, for example during my shoot I did find it difficult to always capture an image that was always in focus but I believe this comes with practice, therefore by doing more shoots over time this will help me improve on this aspect. I did find this inspirational word very difficult at the beginning of my research as I have never been presented with a task such as this. The word 'fill' is not a word I would have thought would have given me this idea as I did not know how to develop this word however we continuous research and back-tracking shown throughout this blog I believe I have achieved the best outcome that I could have.
Editorial Plan
Plan For Editorial Shoot
For this part of my blog I wanted to write out and present a plan ready for my Editorial Photoshoot. I will be explaining the setting of the shoot, lighting type, model, ,makeup, assistance and time/date. The purpose of this blog that of course 'preparation is key' and therefore by planning out the shoot prier to the date I can make sure I am completely prepared to save time as if this was for a real business shoot time is money therefore the preparation is 'key' to making the best out of the time you have. I have chosen the design based on the idea of dripping paint work as it relates to my chosen word 'fill'. Paint is an aspect and media that can be poured and can fill up a large area with a small amount I believe its one of the best forms of media for this shoot for these reasons it gives the most interesting look/texture. The design shown below best represents this reason and gives many reasons for a interesting Editorial image. As quoted from my previous blog this is why I have chosen this design for my final shoot 'In my final design I have created a mix of light and dark blues that cover all areas of skin that are exposed using the child friendly paints. I wanted to create a mis-match of textures on the face while using white in certain areas (like the t-zone) to highlight the face. Then while running these colours through the hair I would drip colours down the face to relate to other textures of paint used. Using black paint and a bristled brush I would run this along some edges of the face like shown in the design to give the look more demention and definition. To finally finish the look I may place white eyelashes to really make the eyes pop against all the colours on the body.' I am really happy with this design and how its relates to my word 'fill' while including texture and an interesting concept. I will now explain my plan below of all the elements and facts that I need to include to make this concept come to life in the best way possible.
Time/Date/Location:
The photoshoot would take place on the 16/03/2016 in the photography studios on level 0, at 12pm-4pm.
Photo shoot Layout:
In my layout for my shoot I wanted the lighting to be very soft on my model as to make the contrast of light and dark colours stand out. However, I want to use the soft box lighting as this will create a softer light on my model which I want to achieve rather than a harsh dark light. In this set up the round circle represents where my model would sit and shinning from either side would be too soft box lights on a low setting to back light my model and create soft light. Over the top of model I would use a ring light or soft round light to light the front of my model which would be connected to my camera to flash when I take a picture creating a sharp finish to my images. I would have my model sitting down on a stool as I only want to photograph the top half of her body that paint is covered in as my word is 'fill' and I only want to photograph the part of the body filled in with paint. For the background I would use a black back drop as a white one would wash out the colours on my model as they are very light therefore using a black background creates contrast.
Lighting Type:
For the lighting I would use three lights one either side of my model and one above, slightly above her face. The three angles will create an even amount of light and as they will all be soft box lights this will create a 'soft' lighting onto my model which I think will work really well with my light colours of paint on my models skin.
Model/Description:
My model has dark, long brown hair which is perfect for my concept as I can run a lot of colour down her hair and the parallel shape will make the images very interesting due to the theme of straight lines. She has a even completion and very beautiful small facial features which works perfectly as I wanted a model with natural beauty as I want the paint to be her make-up upon her natural features. Therefore I believe the contrast between the paint sat on top of her natural features will really complement each other.
Assistance:
For my photoshoot I may need assistance with setting up the studio therefore this will help me with my time management for the photoshoot making sure I get everything finish in the slotted time. While I take my images I have arranged for some assistance as when I am taking my images I want drips of paint to be rolling down my models face therefore I need someone to be pouring the paint while I capture its movement.
Make-up/Equipment:
For the make-up I will include a kit list that will be needed;
- Child safety paints in blue, white and black.
- Brissle brush
- Hair comb
- Towel
- Make-up wipes
- Fake eyelashes
- Eyelash glue
- Paint pallet

Editorial Photoshoot:
Editorial Photoshoot:
To continue my blog from my Editorial shoot idea I have chosen a design that I believe is the most suitable for my theme and put it into practice. Referring back to my previous blog I chose the design below for this reason 'In my final design I have created a mix of light and dark blues that cover all areas of skin that are exposed using the child friendly paints. To finally finish the look I may place white eyelashes to really make the eyes pop against all the colours on the body.' Kit List:
- Blue, white and black children paint- comb
- Eyelashes
- Bristled brush
When completing this look I thought paint would be the most appropriate texture and substance for my word 'Fill' as it relates in that it can be poured and can fill objects, while being a great substance to create looks and colour. Inspired by this photograph I wanted to create a similar colour theme with gradients of blues and white as the gradient of colours is very appealing to the eye. To start this look on my model I started with a clean face and then using my white paint and bristled brush I made brush strokes up and down the face, going down just below the collar bone in random parts to create this look. As the white acted as a base I then created three shades of blue; dark blue medium and light. Using these three colour I used the same brush and technique as with the white and continued on the face. When I was happy with the amount of colour on the face I then brought these colours into the hair, slicking it back to later have worn down and long as I believe the hair makes the look more interesting showing off the gradient of paint colours into the natural hair. Using the black paint and the bristled brush I wanted to outline certain features of the face as I felt it would give the face more demention. I created these streaks of black around the jaw line, above the eyebrow, nose etc. To finally finish off the look I wanted to create drama in the eyes so I used some dramatic eyelashes and then painted bits of white within them which I believe created this drama and contrast which made this look very interesting. As seen below these are some examples of my un-edited photographs that I produced in my shoot. Originally I wanted to have a white background with these photos but I decided black worked best as with the colours on the model being so light the contrast of dark and light really made the models face pop with colour. For the poses as the contrast of colours are show dramatic I wanted the poses to highlight this even further, therefore like shown below the images are either up-close or bold and dramatic. The lighting that was used added to this I created two soft boxes on either side off the model to softly lighten her face and then a ring light above and towards the models face to create the bright, white lighting which highlights the colours and creates a striking brightness in the models eyes. To add to this look I had an assistance pour different colours of blue and white paint down the sides and into the hands of the model as I captured its moment to capture the essence of my word and texture. I am really happy with the outcome and as to improve on my look I need to make sure all my picture are in focus and I may have used a mixture of different colours to create a different mood to the images.
